Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific solutions presented the reading passage.
The main topic of the both passage and the lecture is to discuss whether some suggestion could be effective for controlling cane toad population or not. The author proposed some solution to cease the population growth of cane toad, while the professor not only refutes the author's claims but also assert that these suggestions would be unsuccessful and cause damages to the environment on a number of accounts elaborated upon hereunder.
To commence with, both the author and the lecturer argues about the effectiveness of fence for blocking the spread of toad in other portions of Australia. The author claims that a fence could inhibit the moving of toads as well as some rabbits' prevention in the 12th century. The professor contradicts this idea by asserting that young toads and toad's eggs spread out of fence by streams and rivers, and this streams which flow from one side of the fence to another side. Thus, the young toads and eggs help to establish the toad population. Consequently, the fence could not be effective and ban the spread of the toads in Australia.
In addition, both the author and the speaker discuss capturing and destroying toad by some volunteers. The author says that in the habitat of the toads, people should camping and attempt to spot and kill them. The professor, on the other hand, states that some untrained volunteers could destroy many frogs which these frogs are one the most important part of native Australia' s ecosystems. She further adds that it is too hard identification of the frog and toad when they are young.
The last allegation of the author against which the professor argues is that spreading the disease-causing virus to kill this toad and regulate their population. The professor claims that it is not a good idea because it could have some terrible results for cane toad originally. In addition, many of reptile and amphibian transported to another area such as America by researchers or other people. It is enough, one of these ill animals spread in another area for harming to all another toad. In addition, she states that the toad is a native animal for U.S ecosystem and the spread of infection could devastate the whole ecosystems.
