Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they respond to specific arguments made in the reading passage.
Both the passage and the lecture discuss about the Jane Austen portrait. However, the lecturere creates doubts on what has been discussed in the passage about the portrait of Jane Austen in the following ways.
First, according to the passage, The living family member have endorsed the painting that it of Jane, but the lecturer says that the Jane was dead before these family membors were born. So, their claim does not have a strong support.
Second, according to the passage, Cassandra's sketch of Jane, is very similar to the the painting in terms of facial structure. But according to the lecturer, other memebers of Jane family, were also looked similar to her and lot of her cousins were also sharing the same age group with Jane. So, it is difficult to say with confidence that tha painting is of Jane.
Third, according to the passage, the word of art is very similar to the works of the famous painter of that time, when Jane was teeneger. So this supports the claim that, Ozias Humphrey has painted the Jane painting. In contrast to passage the lecturer says since there is no sign and date, we can't conclude this fact. He adds on further that the canvas which has been used to paint, was only sold when she grew older.
So summarising all these points, we can see how the lecturer is nullyfing the claims of reading passage about the painting of Jane Austen.
