Both the author and speaker talk about the possibility of human settlement on the Venus. In the reading passage, the author explains the impossibilities condition whereas the author opposes the author's opinions by giving the various evidence.

First, the author says that by the extreme atmospheric pressure, the spacecraft cannot be landed because the pressure crushes the spacecraft. On another hand, the speaker claims that we can settle the floating spacecraft that certainly solves the atmospheric problem. Thus, the speaker disagrees with the writer.

Second, the author claims that the water should be imported from the earth because the Venus surface, as well as atmosphere, do not have the water. On contrary, the speaker says that the other gases like carbon dioxide, nitrogen present on the Venus can be converted into the water. So, there is no compulsion to import the water from the earth. Hence, the speaker also disagrees with the writer.

Third, the author expresses the view about the sunlight on the planet's surface. By the author, the Venus reflected the sunlight and the by the thick cloud, enough light cannot reach on the surface. However, the speaker says that the think could is not so thick and a considerable amount of light can be reached on the surface. Also, the speaker says that by using the solar panel, we can collect the two direction light which is useful. Thus, the speaker does not support the author opinion.

In conclusion, in the reading passage, the author explains the impossibilities condition whereas the author opposes the author's opinions by giving the various evidence.
