Undoubtedly, Employees work time has always been a controversial topic among businesses. More specifically, the writer puts forth the idea that working 4 days a week is better than 5 days. However, the lecturer points out that there are some serious flaws in the writer's claim. To be exact, the lecturer believes that more 4 days working employees is costlier. He more or less addresses the problem with each point made in the reading.
First of all, the writer claims that hiring more employees will not have additional costs for the company. But the lecturer refutes with this point and says that hiring more employees will cost more due to the need for more space in the office, and also medical, and train the employees has its costs.
Secondly, the reading states that with more 4 days working employees there would be jobs for new people. The lecturer, believes that it may turn out to 4 days is enough for some jobs and in this case, there is no room for new employees.
Finally, the author wraps up the topic by claiming that working 4 days a week will let employees spend more time with their families and pursuing private interests. Then again, the professor stays on the other side of the argument and says that this extra time will affect the risk of their positions at work and may put them in danger of losing their jobs.
In conclusion, the author and the professor obviously hold opposing views about working 4 days a week.
