The reading passage talks about employee typically work five days a week for eight hours each day However many employee want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay in order to do. However the lecture cast serious doubt on this claim by presenting some counter arguments and examples. He believes that model job have benefit for company but employee has hard situation.
First of all, she argues that employee have force to spent more and they spent more money for train and bus or gas so 5 days a week have many benefit and this decided cut profit for company. this, however, in contrast the passage claims that a mandatory policy require companies to offer their employees the option of working a four-day workweek for four –fifths of their normal pay would benefit the economy as a whole as well as the individual companies and the employees who decided to take the option.
Moreover, it is noted in the reading passage the shortened workweek would increase company profits because employees would feel more rested and alert and as a result, they would make fewer costly errors in their work.in contrast the lecture clearly states that if I follow 4 days a week people can be available in per week and if one person work 4 day company can increase expectation but in Fridays employee is tired and this job created company unpleasant.
Finally, the speaker points out that 4 week in a week have risk and it reduce quality so decrease employee’s ability so as a result in the economic turn down maybe lose their job. And they can choose 5 day a workweek then manage their live. Nevertheless, the text asserts that the option of a four-day a workweek would be better for individual employee. They could afford a lower salary in exchange for more free time could improve the quality of their lives by spending the extra time with their families.
