The lecture and the reading passage argue about the possibility or not of endothermy in dinosaurs. The reading passage states dinosaurs were endotherms while the lecturer challenges that idea in several points.
First, the lecturer disagrees with the argument that states that finding of dinosaurs fossils in Polar areas is a proof of the dinosaurs endothermy by explaining that weather was a lot more warmer in those regions at the time the dinosaurs lived there. Also, dinosaurs could hibernated. as many animals do now, to cope with cold weather, or even emigrate to warmers regions.
Second, the lecture contradicts the reading passage about the position of the legs of the dinosaurs. According to the reading passage, legs underneath the body could means an adaptation to save energy during physical activity, which is characteristic of endothermic animals. On the contrary, the lecturer explains that the underneath position of the legs are possibly more related to big heavy bodies like the dinosaurs ones. Legs underneath the body are more able to support more weight.
Finally, even thought the lecturer agrees that dinosaur had Haversian canals, the growth of these animals were varible in its speed. According to the lecture, there are also proof that the grow of the dinosaurs were sometimes slow and even it stopped completely if the environment was adverse.
