keeping body temperature in a constant degree is an important characteristic of modern birds and mammals called Endotherms. according to the reading, dinosaurs were not in endotherms category but they could be able to control their body temperature. The lecturer clearly disagrees with the proposed hypothesis and refutes each of author's reason by giving some evidence related to dinosaurs.
First, the reading states that fossils found in the polar region are a good evidence for the proposed idea. because only endotherms can tolerate in this kind of cold regions which are so active. On the contrary. the lecturer contradicts the idea that these fossils cannot support the mentioned hypothesis. because the weather has been enough warm at that time. with decreasing temperature, dinosaurs cannot migrate like other animals to other areas.
Second, the reading posits that allendotherms legs are positioned under there bodies that have made the opportunity of running and high movements. Although the dinosaur's legs were like endotherms, their large size and high weight would be an obstacle against their activity.
Third, the reading says that the existence of Haversian canals that are the main characteristic of endotherms helps animals to grow rapidly. the lecturer not only validates the existence of these canals in dinosaurs, he also says that there are other growth rings that are the important part of dinosaurs. But, this evidence cannot support the mentioned idea because the growth rate in endotherms is constant whether the weather is hot or cold. In the other hand, the dinosaurs' growth stops in cooler periods.
In conclusion, the notion that dinosaurs are endotherms seems to be impossible due to soma reasons mentioned above.
