The author claims that American wood companies are not likely to have ecocertification and provides three reasons. The lecturer, however, refutes his claims and counter each of his arguments. In additional, he says that achievement of certificate will be promising of American companies.
First, the author says that the Americans, being too much exposed to advertisement, would pay attention for certification and do not trust advertisement claims. In contrast, the lecture claims that the Americans can classify the qualified product from the mediocre products. He further says that American are absorbed towards independent certification of product and the ecocertification is one of the independent certifications.
Second, reading posits that seeking for certification would cause wood company ti rise their product value; thus, leading to lower selling of certified product. However, the lecture argues that when the difference of cost of product is steep then the American will be value motive. but since the product difference is about 5%, the Americans, being fascinated by certification, will buy certified woods.
Third, the reading says that most American woods companies have a domestic consumer, so they is not a necessity of certification. However, the listening claims that due to lack of certification, American people will buy the products of International companies. We have also learned that the American companies, in order to be with competition with international companies, have to make certificate in early or late.
