According to the author of the reading passage, the author introduces the topic of advantages from work four days per week. More specifically, the writer discusses it will have benefits for companies and workers. The lecture in the listening passage disagrees. He believes that it will affect the system for jobs and attack each of the claims made in the reading.
In the reading, the author begins by stating that it will increase company profits because they will hire more staff and avoid costly errors. The lecture is quick to point out that the article has omitted some important facts. Specifically, he states that it won't profits. He goes on to say that the companies will spend more money to hire new workers for training, and he also added they need more office spaces. Furthermore, it will be costly because they need health insurance, it will be the same price for four days or five days of work per week.
The author further backs up his claim by stating that it will decrease the unemployment rate. Again, the lecture believes there are flaws in the writer's argument. The speaker holds that it won't decrease the unemployment rate. For many reasons, the hiring is costly and companies were expected workers to finish their job in four days instead of five days, and that it will cause an unpleasant job.
Another reason why the author feels that four days of work per week have many advantages is that it will increase the quality of the workers' life. The professor in the listening passage is doubtful that this is accurate. He suggests that it will decrease it because they won't have enough money, and they will make a mistake because there is a change in supervisor, and these issues were let them lose their jobs
