The lecture and the passage discuss the effects of less reading literature. Although the passage claims that this decline can have some unfortunate effects on culture, reading public and literature itself, the speaker refutes this idea through several reasons which I will describe in this report.
First and foremost, the passage points out that literature will weaken people's intellectual stimulation. The lecturer, in contrast, rejects this by claiming that people read science, historical, political analysis books that have a high quality. These books just creative and still imagination book that helps people to improve intellectual stimulation.
Furthermore, unlike the passage which states that people tend to see the TV and a movie instead of reading literature, and they are reducing their time for reading books. However, the professor argues that spending less time with literature not means reed less book. In the new era, some valuable book change to music and movies and people prefer to use this equipment. This change because of a change in culture.
Finally, although the reading passage says that due to the decrease in reading literature, there is fewer financial support from publishers for good writers, the speaker disagrees by mentioning that the reader is not blaming in this situation. The author faults this situation. Because books are to difficult to understand for young people, so people are not willing to read them. She also says that ancient people may not read this kind of literature too.
