TPO 11: a decline in reading the literature

In the reading passage, the author claims that a substantial drop in reading the literature including poem, novel and plays, particularly in juveniles, has an adverse effect on the whole of the society by pointing out 3 reasons of support. However, finding all the ideas implausible and questionable, the professor casts doubt on what is presented in text and states some evidence to the contrary.
At first, the author argues that a decline in the number of literature readers is closely associated with the decrease in the culture of the society. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that scientific, political and even historical books can provide intellectual stimulation as well. Indeed, these kinds of books also contain high-quality context which not only enhances creativity in their readers but it also develops their imagination. Therefore, it does not mean that the culture of the society has been declined.
In addition, the reading passage holds the view that watching the TV programs or music videos as alternative habits instead of reading the literature is accounted as a waste of time. On the other hand, the professor disputes this point by clarifying to the fact that the culture of the people has changed. Actually, we live in an era of time that there is a wide array of expressions of culture and the brilliant song or successful movie is other forms of the culture. Admittedly, altering in the form of culture has nothing to do with spending the time with futility.
Finally, the author asserts lack of financial support of the talented writers from publishers due to the shortage of public interest in terms of reading literature. The professor, though, dismisses it by subscribing to the point that although it is true that publishers are less inclined to invest in the modern writers, it is not entirely the readers' fault. In fact, so difficult is their writing that it is hard for the readers to understand and perceive them; thus, they opt to occupy their time with other options such as reading some other types of books or watching the TV programs.
