TPO-11 - Integrated Writing Task
The lecture and the reading are about the a study which revealed that young generation people are reading less literature. However, the lecturer casts doubt on whatever presented in the reading and refutes every of the reasons given in the text. She does not feel that people are reading less nowadays then they used to be.
First of all, lecturer states that if people are not reading literature it does not mean that they are missing out important benefits of reading. Moreover, for reading book does not have to be of literature, it can be of any kind like science, physics, general studies etc. These types of books are also creative and stimulate the imagination of people.
Secondly, professor puts forth the another point that if people are not reading literature books it does not mean that they are not reading good books. There are plenty of cultural books based on some movies, song videos, reading web page etc, people are more attracted to such kind of books these days. Furthermore culture have been changed so do the pattern of their reading habits. Many forms of other things are also available these days to do like watching movies and all which also help people to improve their thinking capacity and enhance their knowledge in whatever field they want.
In addition to aforementioned points, lecturer finally mentions that Sometimes it is authors fault that he or she can not attract the people to study their literature. Modern literature is very difficult to understand, so people go for other options which are more convinient for them to understand. People nowadays prefer to go for smart options which are not low in standards but according to public refering lot of literature is a boring.
Thus professor casts on all the reasons presented by the author to present that young people are reading less literature nowadays rather than earlier times.
