The reading and the speaker discussing about why the reading habit of literature, novels, and poems are reduced but in vary contrast ways.
Firstly, reading passage says that because of less intellectual in the literature in the literature books people gradually diminished the reading of it. Further, the physical science because it is science books are more welcomed by the public. But the lecture argues this point by saying that reading habit reduced not because that literature does not have intellectual stimulation, it all happens because the trend has changed. Over all, people general reading of books are reduced this is evidence for that.
Secondly, reading passage suggests that more people relay on the self-help books which is superficial and poorly written stuff. More people, spending much time in entertainment like movie and other tasks. Again, the lecturer refutes this point by stating that the way of reading has been changed like people are started reading these stuffs through internet, music and so on.
Thirdly, reading passage claims that publishers are showing very less interest in releasing the literature and novel because very fewer skill writers are available today, further, they think it is risky to invest huge money in that because there is very less scope and more risky. Still, the professor opposes this point by explaining that the writing style of modern novelists are changed they are not following the old style that reason very fewer writer sticking on their job.
Finally, the speaker refuses all the points made in the reading passage with his reasonable evidences.
