The passage states that there is problem in reading literature that affect reading in public. The professor refutes this idea and opposes each three reasons.
First, the passage states there is deccrease in literature reading because of non intellectual reasons. The professor opposes with this opinion and beleive there are many high quality books in science, history, and etc. that people can take advantage of them. In addition, these books have high qualities and very creative. So lack of readers in literature does not show lack of people who follow books.
Second, the passage points out the alternative books that citizens use are not efficient and suitable. On the contrary the professor beleive the culture is changed and people are moving to the other type of novels.
Third, the passage informs that there are many outstanding authors and lack of audience can cause the final production to be poor and unqualified. However, the professor speaks about high supports. He beleives modern literature is difficult to understand on the other hand in formal type there are many readers who are looking for reading literature.
For conclusion, the passage provides three reasons for lack of audience in literature books and correlates that to the decrease in overal number of readers. But the speaker provides three reason for opposing those type of reasons.
