The reading and the lecture are both about fossils, which is about selling and buying them by private collectors. The author of the reading believes that it is a very bad for universityies and other general public such as museums. The lecture casts doubt on the claims made in the article. She thinks that the author exaggerated about the influence of selling fossils to wealthy fossils buyers.

First of all, the author claims that selling fossils to private owners make it difficult for other people to watch these fossils. This point is challenged by the lecture. She says that private collectors discover many fossils. Furthermore, she points out that even uninversities and museums and other public institutions do not have problem to buy fossils.

Secondly, the author states that scientists need to study on the fossils and they do not have access to the fossils for research. So, they miss many essential discoveries. This argument is rebutted by the lecture. She suggests it is not realistic. She elaborates on this mentioning that scientists recieve every fossils are discovered and they are the only persons that allowed to do any experiments on them. Thus do not miss any important point about them.

Finally, the author mentions that commercial fossil collectors do not care about the any other worthy evidence about surrondings of these fossils. The lecture, on the other hand, feels that there are many fossils that they discover and scientists must not be concern about how this fossils lie in the ground because they can find their answers among these many fossils.
