TPO-16 - Integrated Writing Task The United Kingdom (sometimes referred to as Britain) has a long and rich history of human settlement. Traces of buildings, tools, and art can be found from periods going back many thousands of years: from the Stone Age, t

Both the reading passage and the lecture discuss the archaeology development in the the United Kingdom. The reading passage proposes threee problems developing archaeology faced. However, the lecture refutes these problems by introducing the new guildline which was published in 1900.
First, the reading passage thinks due to the rapid construction in the United Kingdom, lots of artifacts were not preserved. On the other hand, the lecturer dispute it. Thanks to the new guideline, an area should be examed carefully by archaeologists before construction. If the area is valuable and interesed by archaeologists, the builder has to make a preserved plan, either to build around the valuable site or exavate the artifacts.
Second, the writer points out the finacial support for archaeological research was not enough. Nevertheless, the lecturer argues that according to the new guideline, instead of the government, the construction company needs to pay for the research from the very beginning until the end of the research.
Last but not the least, the writer says that it was hard to have a career in archaelogy, while the lecturers doesn't think so. Because of the preserve plan, the construction company has to hire a lot of archaeologists in different stage. As a result the company offers a lot of job from planing the preserved plan to processing the data. Therefore, it not only increases the job opportunities but also teaches numbers of experts in archaeology.
