Although the author claims three main hypotheses to support the cause of of declination of an evergreen tree of Torreya taxifoha in Florida and the ways of their protection, the professor finds them dubious and brings up three reasons to refute them all.
Firstly, the reading material holds the view that reestablish of trees in the same place which caused to change the microclimate condition from a dryer climate to cooler. However, the professor finds them unconvincing and asserts that it is not a satisfactory way because these trees are readily affected by global warming which changes the overall climate.
Furthermore, the reading passage argues that locating them to some far places will give them the advantage of being in cooler climate which is proper for them. In contrast, the lecturer believes that moving them to other places is extremely likely to kill almost other plants and endanger species. For example, when black locust was moved to another habitant, it almost destroyed all plants and caused them to extinct.
Eventually, the author claims that preserve them in research center would be a great idea in order to protect them from extinction. Conversely, the speaker states that research centers do not have the capacity for relatively high and divers trees in long run due to the lack of facilities.
