The passage states that Torreya taxifoha, a type of evergreen tree once very common in the state of Florida, will soon become extinct and provides three ways to block the extinction. The lecturer, nevertheless, says that none of these ways persuasive satisfactory solution and disproves each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading claims that one way is reestablishing Torreya in the same location in which it improved for many years because of the good weather conditions. Conversely, the lecturer opposes this point by saying that this method will be unsuccessful. The professor contends that in large regions the climate will be changed more and many places will be dryer. So, this method is not a good one.
In addition, the article posits that by moving Torreya to an entirely different location where the temperature is cooler, the seed and saplings have been successfully planted and grown. On the other hand, the lecture argues that black local spreads quickly in these areas and kills many plants. According to the professor, this migration has a unpredicted outcome to the environment.
Finally, the passage expresses that preserving Torreya in research centers is another method to stop the extinction of it. Quite on the contrary, the lecturer emphasizes that Torreya can not resist the diseases in these centers. Also, we learn that Torreya needs to be large and genetically deserved to become thrived, but it has not enough capacity to be large and thus this method will be unsuccessful.
