The lecturer disagrees with the experts opinions about how to avoid Torreya taxifolia to become extint. There are the following three reasons for that.

First, the lecturer states that the global warming and climate changes have modified the Norther Florida's microclimate. The higher temperatures have changed the previously damped areas into drained areas now. Therefore, the current microclimate of this region that once was favorable to Torreya's growth is not anymore.

Second, it is stated that assisted migration, which means to move Torreya to a different location, would be not a suitable way to preserve the species because it would cost a high price. The lecturer gives the example of another species assisted migration that ended causing the death of the native species in the area.

Third, the lecturer explain that although plants can be closely monitored by scientists in research centers, there are not large population and variety of the species there. This way, Torreya would not survive to diseases in research center's conditions.

To sum up, the lecturer believes that experts ways to avoid Torreya's extinction are not suitable or efficient.
