The professor explains three clear arguments opposing the points stated in the reading passage about the damages of "let it burn" policy which asks to replace it with less harmful policy. Because "let it burn" policy was blamed most of the Yellowstone national park destroyed in a massive fire of 1988.
First, the professor states that after Yellowstone fire, many plant species had opportunity to grow despite the time that they couldn't compete with other species. For instance, some seeds started to germinate after fire as well as some other species of trees and a new kind of vegetation became appeared in Yellowstone park.
Second, it is mentioned in the reading passage that the Yellowstone's wildlife could be seriously affected by such large fire. Although deer and elks could able to runaway from fire, there were many other small species of animals that couldn't escape. Also, many of animals have lost their habitats and food resources, thus, if they could able to runaway from fire, they would die due to lack of food. Nevertheless, the professor opposes this idea, and states that other animal have opportunity to live in new habitat. For instance, new vegetation triggers Rabbits and Hales to choose this area as their habitat, therefore, they would be hunted by predators and food chain cycle starts again. Hence, this idea has been repudiated by the professor either.
Third and last, the reading passage asserts that fires on Yellowstone would have negative impact on tourism industry which is beneficial to local economy and business. On the contrary, the professor disproves the idea due to the fact that Yellowstone's fire on 1988 was result of drought, uncommon weather change and it did not happened every year. Also, after fire, more tourists have visited the park with increase pace.
