The reading passage and the lecture are both about consequences of Yellowstone fire. The author of the snippet believe that devastating consequences of fire bring tremendous damage to the forest. On the other hand, the lecturer considers that the statements made in the reading passage are wrong and she reinforces her opinion by providing several examples.
First of all, there is indicated in the reading passage that third of the land had been scortherd because of the fire. However, the speaker asserts, that a fire is always an opportunity for new species to thrive. Also, fire is important for germination of seeds, which were sleeping for a lot of years. Consequently, due to the fire species of small plants will be dominate in the ecosystem, and it is also positive for different animals.
The subsequent lecturer argument is related to the statement made in the excerpt that a lot of species ought to escape the forest of the Yellowstone because of the fire and some of the animals died in the fire. The lecturer disputes that by claiming that instead this animals came new one, such as rabbits, which are able to feed by the new plants ecosystem and this animals will orginise the new ecosystem, which wouldn’t be worse then one destroyed by fire.
Finally, there is denoted in the reading fragment that small attraction of tourists caused local economical decline. However, the lecturer states that such fires as Yellowstone don’t happen every season to lead to the economical problems. Likewise, this fire was a coincedence, due to the hot weather and dry summer.
