The article states that Robert E.peary had reached to the North Pole on april, 7, 1909 and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor expalins that there are no soild evidences that Peary did so and she refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading avers that the inversitgation results that done by National geographic Society supports the claim of Robert Peary reached the North Pole. The professor opposes this point by saying that this investigation is cimpletetly objectives. Because the committe members were, infact, Pole's friends, and also they were financially supportering him for his trip. Also, she mentions that this investigation only took 2 days and not examined evidences fully, so this was biased and not trustworhty.
Second , the article posits that recent expedition support peary's claim that he reached the Pole during 37 days only. A british explorer named Tom Avery had done this expedition. The professor, on the other hand, explains that there are two difference between Peay and Avery trips. For example, the sildes that used in Avery trip were less weight because his food was transported on the plane. Moreover, the waether conditions was so favorable compared to the conditions during Peary's trip. So, this speedy issue did not proof that Peary reached The North Pole.
Third, the reading claims that there are photographs taken By Robert E. Peary clearly support his claim. This was done by measuring the surf's position. The professor refutes this point by explaining these images do not proof this claim. SHe emphasizes that these photos was taken by old, primitive camera, which produce unfocused pictures. And, consequently, we cannot make any precise calculations. Another thing, these photographs are faded overtime and became so unclear. She conculdes this photographs are not so grat evidence to consider Peary's claim that he reached The North Pole.
