The reading states that edmontosaur survived the winter by migrating south to more hospitble regions and provides three reasons of support. The professor, on the other hand, explains that migration of edmontosaur is not convincing and refutes each of author's reasons.
To begin with, the article claims that the edmontosaur's diet supports their migration. However the professor refutes this point by stating that the edmontosaur did not have to migrate. She mentions the point that the climate of Alaska's North Slope was warmer those days than todays. She therefore says that there were a lot of plants in there to be used by them. Also she mentions that in the winter there were a lot of nutrients.
Moreover, the article states that edmontosaurs lived and migrated in herd because of thier skeletons which have been unearthed from the same site. The professor says that living in herd does not mean that they migrate. She mentions other reasons that animals live in herd such as protecting themselves from predators. Besides, the lecturer provides an example of Roselct elk which they lived in herd but they never migrate.
Finally, the reading states that edmonosaurs were physically capable of migrating long distances. The speaker again rebuts this point by saying that their offsprings could not migrate long distances. She says that adults were not physically capable of migrating long distances. On the other hand, she mentions that their parents could not leave thier juvaniles to live in their own.
