When Roman navy attached the Greek, The Greek military used an ingenious weapon named "burning mirror". Based on the reading that weapon is some kind of myth and it was not existed, and It provides three reasons of support, while the professor rejects all the three reasons and states that could be existed.
First, the article states that the Greek did not have such a technology to build that huge weapon with a very precise parabolic curvature. In contrast, the professor states that it was not a complicated weapon. The burning mirror could be structured by small minor mirrors and it could be taken by more than one ship.
Second, the text claims that it needs a long time to burn a wood ship by focusing sunlight on it, so it definitely was an unusable weapon. On the contrary, the professor mentions that the ships did not just contain wood. There were many various materials on the ships like peaches that catch fire quickly and spread it to other parts of the ship.
Third, the reading asserts that the Greek had better weapons than burning mirror, like flaming arrows, and it did not need to build new weapon. The professor opposes this point by saying that there were several advantages of using burning mirror. Burning mirror did not have fire direction, while flaming arrows had fire direction, so it was better for them to use the burning mirror.
