TPO 32 – Integrated

Either subjects of the lecture or reading discuss what reasons and phenomena have produced the odd voice. The article implies three hypothesis which make the unusual sound. However, the lecture casts a shadow of doubt on what has been presented on the passage and presents some evidence to refute them all.

First of all, the lecture argues that ocra whales live near the surface, but submarines move through the deep ocean. Hence, it is high unlikely, the sailors could hear the mating sound of whales because it happened far distance. This is directly contradicts with what the article indicates that weird sound was listened when ocra attempt to entice a male.

Another crucial fact against, what the reading states that colossus squid yielded this sound, is that this sound was heard during two decades, from 1960 to 1980, by sailors in the submarines. Moreover, this sound wholly disappears for one decade without any reasons.

Finally, the lecture proposes that this sound was appeared when the submarines move around and their engine has a loud noise. Submarines could not move fast through the deep ocean. Even today, there are not advanced technologies which can help to produce submarines with high speed and silent engine. This directly refutes the reading what states that Russian submarines had an advanced military technology which caused the sound.
All in all, based on aforementioned argument what posits in the lecture, there are not any accurate answers how this sound was generated.
