TPO 33: Carved stone balls

While the article points that stone balls were used as a standard for a system of weights and measures, the lecturer states that the stones balls have different mass because of different density. The stone balls may have the same size, but they were made by different types of stones which have different density, so the stone balls have different weight. Thus, the stone balls were not useful to weight of measure.

Third, the article states that the stones balls were used to mark the social status of their owners. However, the lecturer says that some carvings on the stones are intricate but some are simple. She also mention that Britain who had a high ranking were often buried with their possessions, but the stone balls were not find in any grave. Thus, the stone balls were not use to serve as social purpose.
