The material discusses the possible causes of a mass-extinction at the end of the Triassic period. While the reading looks at the topic from one perspective, the listening challenges certain points outlined in the reading passage.

Consequently, the cooling period that happened at the end of the Triassic period was not long enough to cause the mass-extinction. One final point, if there was an asteroid strike during this period, there should be a astroids' crater, however, the only crater had been found dated back to 12 million years ago, which was too long before the mass-extinction.
