The article states that birds does not notice building’s windows and they get injured when they try to fly through it and provides three possible solutions for this problem. However, the professor explains that none of the solutions are effectively applied to avoid birds getting injured and refutes each of the author’s solutions.
First the reading claims that instead of normal glass, one-way glasses can be used to make a barrier for birds. The professor refutes this point by saying that there is a problem about one-way glasses. He states that that kind of glasses reflect vision like mirror and birds do not understand whether it is mirror or not. If the glass reflect sky toward birds they think it is really sky and they still try to fly through it.
Second the article posits that colorful lines or other designs can use on regular window glass to change its view. However, the professor says that if the design is big birds think that it is a hole and they move through it. According to professor, on the other side if the design is small enough to be noticed by birds at this time the room would be dark and so it is not an efficient solution.
Third the reading says that an artificial magnetic field can be used and through natural magnetic abilities of bird, they can be routed another direction. However, the professor opposes this point by explaining that it is true, they have a natural ability but they do not use it everytime they fly. We also learn that birds use the ability when they migrate from one place to another like that cold place to warm one. When they fly in short distant such as one side of city to another city they do not use the ability and so it does not work.
