The article claims three possible arguments about the possible behavioral characteristics of agnostids. Along with those points, reader provided reasons of support. On the other hand, the lecturer counters all these specific thoughts and presents clues to call into the information in the passage.
First, the discourse avers that agnostids may have very fast swimming capability then, as well as used to hunt smaller animals. Nevertheless, the professor casts doubt about the theory stating that to become a good predator arthropods, large well-developed eye is a must. Whereas, from examining the fossils of agnostids it was found that, their eyes were not only small, poorly constructed eyes, but also sometimes near to blindness. Professor furthermore added that even with other special sensory organs arthropods can become good predators, but that is also not found in the fossils.
Second, the reader concurs that they may have lived on the seafloor and survived eating dead organisms or by grazing on bacteria, while the professor dispute this by telling that seafloor survivors are usually slow moving and confined in a small geographical area. However, finding of evidence of agnostids in a large distributed are suggests that they may not have been sluggish mover, rather were fast mover.
Third, the reading discusses that agnostids may have been parasites and used to dwell in and feed larger organisms. On the contrary, the lectures debates thIs by saying that those arthropods that live as a parasite, are usually constrained in aspect of their population. Whereas, very large population of certain agostids excludes this last theory as, if the number of parasites is too big, then the host will be dead.
