Essay topics:

tpo 43 the agnostids

The material discusses how agnostids lived. While the reading looks at the topic from one perspective, the listening challenges certain points outlined in the reading passage.

firstly, the reading details specific points regarding this topic, namely agnostids were free-swimming predators. Next, they might live on the seafloor. Finally, they were parasites.

Conversely, the lecture challenges the points one specific contradiction is, other primitive arthropods were predators because they had large and well-developed eyes; however, agnostids has very tiny and poor eyes, and some of them were completely blind. Thus, in order to be free-swimming predators, they should have other special organs that helped them to catch their pery, but there is no evidence for that. In addition to that, animals that live at the seafloor could not move fast or faraway; moreover, they occupy small geographic area; on the other hand, agnostids were found in multiple geographic areas, which mean that they could move very fast. One final point, parasites' population could not be very large and should stay at certain limit, otherwise they could kill the host that they live on; either way, agnostids had many species population with a vast amount of individulas. Therefore, they could not be parasites.
