The third reason is associated with the trade. While the article indicates that the Norse who traveled to North America would have understood that silver coins would be useless to them because native North Americans did not see silver coins as money, the speaker argues that native North Americans may like to collect unusual and unique things. They may trade with the Norse to acquire silver coins. Thus, the lecturer holds that silver coins were traded to native North Americans by the Norse.
Finally, the professor in the lecture disagrees with the reading passage. She believes that the silver coin discovered at Maine is genuine and was brought to North America by the Norse.
