TPO 46-Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage.

Both the reading and the listening discuss properties of electronic medical record system. The auothor believes that this method of storing information about patients has some significant advantages such as cutting costs, preventing human errors, and helping research. The lecturer, however, casts doubt on the claims made in the passage. She states that the reasons stated by the author are incorrect.

First of all, the author points out that electronic method of storing documents is more economical, since electronic medical records take up no physical space. This point is challenged by the professor. She says that even doctors who adopted the electronic method, not only store the information on computers but also keep paper documents as a back up for legal reasons.

Secondly, the author contends that electronic records can help to minimize the possibility of human mistake such as illegible writing and improper transcription. The lecturer rebut this argument. She mentions that doctor write the prescription on paper and later the staff will store it in computer, as a result, the electronic system of recording is not able to remove human error.

Finally, it is stated in the reading that this electronic method can help reasearchers. The article establishes that this system can aid medical scientists by allowing them to gather abundant amounts of data from lots of patients. The professor, on the other hand, points that this is hard for researchers to access this information. She elaborates on this by mentioning that as a censequence of privacy laws, scientists have to follow complex procedure to be allowed to access the data and these permissions are not easily granted.
