The reading and the lecture are both about the causes of the decreasing in the number of the frogs in their habitats. Each provides three reasons to support that. The author and the speaker cast doubt on each other.
Frist of all the author claims that one of the reasonable causes that's frogs number decreases is the use of the pesticides. These chemicals not only kill the insects in the frog habitats but also affect on the central nervous systems of the these frogs
On the other hand, the speaker of the listening contradicts this idea. He states that it is seriously unfair to rely on the pesticides as a reason for that. He elaborates on his idea by saying that, the farmers will be economically affected. in addition to that, the farmers will be unable to compete with others in different areas. The crops will decrease and lower the yield.
Secondly, The fungus infection which attacks the frogs leads to thickening of their skin and hence, will kill the frog because of the dehydration. He states that the use of thermal heat to kill the fungus will affect the frogs as well. On the hand, The Professor refutes this point. He argues that The use of the antifungal is a complicated and difficult way to use. He also explains that the use of antifungal should be applied on large scale and must be used again and again. Nevertheless, this method is not guaranteed that will be inherited to next offsprings.
Lastly, The tutor in reading claims that The frogs lay their eggs on wetland habitat, and because of the people developing the frogs, natural habitat decreased. The Teacher defeats this argument. He states the reason for that is the global warming. Moreover, he suggests that the decrease in the wetland and marshes will be unlikely, but the global warming will increase the wetlands and causes death even extinction of these species.
