Both the reading and the listening discuss the topic of sending humans to Mars. However, the professor discords with the article for several reasons.
First, while the reading claims that the trip would cost 2 years to go to the Mars, so the astronauts should bring a lot of food, water and oxygen, which needs a lot of space to store, the lecturer argues that there is a technology that can grow the plants and crops in the space. In addition, it can also recycle the water that used for plant the plants and turn the CO2 that release from the plants to the oxygen. Moreover, it did not waste a lot of space.
Second, the article indicates that the zero gravity on the space would hurt the astronauts' body. However, the professor claims that there are numbers of people who stay in the space station for months and they are safe through exercising regularly and taking the vitamin pills. Thus, it is not a big problem.
Third, the writer says that the radiation in the space would hurt the astronauts. In order to solve this problem, the spaceship should install a shield which is too heavy for the ship. Nevertheless, the lecturer claims that the radiation is not dangerous all time. As a result, the spaceship should only have a small shield for the astronauts to hide in. The astronauts should hide into the shield until the radiation passes only when the sensor detects the radiation.
