The article and the lecture are both about the colonization of asteroids. While the writer states some reasons why an asteroid would be the best option, the speaker asserts that there are some downsides in her suggestion.
First, it is true that asteroids have lower gravity which would make it much easier to land and take off. However, the lecturer points out that low gravity actually poses some health risks to humans. One of those risks includes the decrease of bone and muscle density. This won't be safe in the long-term as people will start losing their muscles.
Second, the speaker casts doubt on the possibility of making profits from valuable metals brought back from colonized asteroids. In fact, the cost of supporting asteroid colonization and sending raw materials back to the Earth can be high, and thus reduce the expected profit. Moreover, no one could make sure those metals will remain at high price. As more and more materials are transported and added to the supply, their market price would probably decline.
Third, although some asteroids are easier to reach as they are closer to Earth, it would probably not be easy to return. Unlike Mars or the Moon, asteroids' orbits are usually very unstable, for instance, some may come within Earth's orbit at first, then move away. In other words, they may be close to Earth at one point yet won't stay close after some time. Therefore, it would be a challenge to get back from asteroids.
