TPO-56

The author of the passage argues that the existence of the unusual 52-hertz whale could be explaned in three possible ways. Nevertheless, the professor in the lecture disagrees and insists all three explainations are flawed.

Firstly, the author believes that the 52-hertz whale could be a hybrid of two different whale species, leading to a special vioce that is different from both parents. Nonetheless, the speaker holds that the hybrid theory could not stand. Unlike other hybrid whales, who often migrate tegother with other normal whales, the 52-hertz whale not only treavels along but also choose a rount that is different from any other know whale species. The untypical behavior suggests that this whale is nothing close to a hybrid.

Secondly, the author assumes that this percicular whale suffered from a damaged sense of hearing, thus making it songs special. However, the speaker asserts that this theory is also not sound. The loss of hearing could not illustarte the higher pitch of the 52-hertz whale. It is not dout that higher pitch requires different sturcture of thorat, which has not connection with the hearing, As a result, assumption about a damged sense of hearing is iloagical.

Thirdly, the author also mentions the possiblility that this whale belongs to a rare, unknown species hence their songs were never detected before. Nevertheless, the speaker rolls out this arguement as well. No matter how rere the 52-hertz whale is, it musts have parents who belongs to the same specials. Considering the fact that scientists have detected songs of whales for decades, the songs of the 52-hertz whale's parents must have been captured if they ever existed. Consiquently, it is unreasonable to conclude that the 52-hertz whale belongs to any species.
