The reading claims that the reason for surviving edmontosaur was a migration in every winter. However, the lecturer finds all idea dubious and presents some evidence to contrary.
The author argues that edmontosaur had to migrate to find their special diet. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that the temperature of whether in winter was warmer than now since 20 hours in day sunlight was available. Therefore plant received the great amount of sunlight and could growth during winter and there was no problem about food.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that edmontosaur lived in the herd so, they migrated as other herds. On the contrary, the professor underlines the fact that animals such as life in herds for various reasons. For example, one elk’s species lives in herd though they need protecting themselves from predators. It means if they disappeared for the finite duration it wouldn’t confirm that they migrated.
Finally, the reading asserts that edmontosaur were been able to move long distance. In contrast, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that if they had been wanted to migrate another place, they would have left their children and juvenile that couldn’t be able to move this long way. Consequently, the whole of herd stayed in one place.
