The article and the lecture are both about effectiveness of cloud seeding in reducing hail. The author says that the hail pellets can harm crops in the feilds, and the possible way to decline it is cloud seeding which is almost confirmed by some evidences. The lecturer opposes this claim by mentioning some reasons.
First of all, experiments in laboratory show that when experimenters added silver iodode to the cold water which is made by hail, they observed light snow forming except hail pellets most of the time. The lecturer claims that it is maybe true. she also adds that creating snow would be harmful, though by preventing precipitations, such as rain and the others. she implies risk of droughts and lack of water by saying that.
Second, the article points out evidence in Asia which showed the cloud seeding's effectiveness. The writer states that it can control precipitation in urban areas, and that's why there is a claim stating that it can protect farms in the united state. The lecturer ignores this statement. she thinks that urban pollution could affect to the results, and that's why it maybe not work on unpolluted areas.
Finally, the article mentions a local study in central united state which showed that feilds used cloud seeding had less harmless than areas not used cloud seeding. it is stated in the lecture that it could be because of natural variation in cold weather.
