TPO43

The reading provides several theories about agnostid's food and behavior. However, the lecture contends that each theory has serious weakness.

The author discuss that agnostids may free-swimming predators due to that other types of primitive arthropods are strongly good at swimming and very active, which differs from what the first idea in the listening that these primitive arthropods are with big and large eyes to have the version and chase their food. In fact, agnostids have tiny eyes and almost blind so they cannot chase other animals unless there is ay special mechanism, but no records can prove that.

The instructor refutes the second theory---agnostids were seafloor dwellers because they may as same as other primitive arthropods and some scientists think they could survive by having dead organisms---by proposing that agnostids are found in multiple geographic areas, which shows that they could move fast. Also, they are unlike the type of seafloor dwellers without the ability to move fast and spread out in many areas.

The professor makes the point that agnostids have large population with the evidence that a vast agnostids fossils are found in different place. Usually, parasites have small group since too many parasites will kill themselves. This point, again, contradicts what the third theory holds that they may like other modern-day arthropods that exist as parasites and live on primitive fish or on other larger arthropods.
