Will American wood companies go eco-friendly
There are three arguments made in the passage that why American wood companies will not try to get an eco-certification. The Lecturer disagrees with the passage and gives specific reasons for each of the statements.
For the first reason mentioned in the passage, lecturer argues that American people do not treat all advertisments the same way in neglect. He believes if saying in the advertisment is supported by a known agency, peple will pay attention to it.
As for the second idea in the passage, saying that the increse in price of products with eco-certification will result in loss of costumers, the lecturer disagrees and says acording to a recent study, price is major criteria for choosing between two products if their price differs significantly. But if they only have five percent difference, people might choose the eco friendly products.
The final reason given in the passage is that since most American wood companies sell their product inside America, it does not make sence to get an eco-certification. That is mostly because american consumers are happy the way everything is. However, the lecturer believes that if the companies applied for an eco-certifiacation, they would have a much more larger market.
