zoo
It has been claimed in the passage that zoos have benefits to the society and can be source of considerable merits both modern culture and animal life. The writer has coaxed his assertion providing three justifications for validity of zoos. However, those explanations have been rebuffed by the professor according to the listening part who declared that zoos are in contravention of animal rights.
Firstly, it has been commented by the writer on appropriate behavior towards animals living in the zoos which results into animals be healthier, happier, well nourished and live longer. The professor’s opinion although, is in strong opposition to writer’s by exemplifying two red pandas died from rat poison. It shows obviously, poor preservation and lack of efficient and careful attention of animal seekers.
Secondly, it is stated in the passage that zoos are regarded as educational places more than entertainment centers. Although according to professor’s mention, many people are tempted going zoos owing to see average kinds of animals and so there is no educational effect on public learning.
Thirdly, it is argued about the potential of zoos in preserving endangered species where provide a suitable place for them to birth and increase in number. However, the professor opposes this statement and verifies it saying about the low degree of this method’s success. Being of the same families, many endangered species suffer birth defect and makes this method unreliable.
In conclusion, giving some thought both writer and professor’s claims, it seems that the statements of the passage cannot be counted reliable. Although the writer persists with various benefits of zoos in society, according to the listening part the disadvantages outweighs and animal rights are still violated.
