Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.

The speaker contends that the educators should assess student’s learning by their abilities to show the comprehension of a fact not just the fact itself they memorize. I must agree that the speaker’s position is right because listing mere facts in the paper does not mean that they fully understood the subject or they will be able to use the facts in the future.

Apparently, there seem many errors in the evaluation of teacher who corrects student’s ideas about knowledge because the process seems subjective. Since the students ideas can vary to case by case, teacher’s own opinion or imagination can squeeze in during the assessment. Sometimes the teachers’ concept of some subjects can be biased as well. There are also many benefits to evaluate the mere facts the students know. It is error-free for teachers to correct the yes and no questions; they need not to correct the complex student’s comprehension to a subject.

However, the teacher is more than the fact checker. Lecturers have duties to teach student how to think and analyze a situation. Students also should learn how to evaluate fact with various contexts into it because the fact includes the concept or trend of the past. There is a classic example of extortion of mere fact. It is history subject. In World War II, for example, there were many colonies that were mistreated by the powerful countries. Korea was one of the Japanese colonies during that era. Japan called Bong gil Yoon as a terrorist who threw a bomb to a Japanese official. At least it seemed so to Japanese, because Yoon killed the Japanese official, but historically Japan colonized Korea and had merciless action to colony people. In Korean’s view, Yoon is not a terrorist but a hero. In this light, student must have ability to look at the context behind the mere fact. Thus teachers should evaluate the students' ability to understand other things behind the fact in order to sincerely understand the fact.
