Scholarship
The reading passage provides the criteria that the student should fulfill to be offered a scholarship. While, The listening passage provides the information about the two students who are finalists and are in the race of getting a scholarship.
In reading passage, there are four factors set up by the committee which they would look for in the deserving student. First, the student should be majoring in journalism. Second, should be having high grades which indicated his good education. Third, should be well-rounded that is should be involved in various activities. Fourth, should have served the community in a such a way that he improve lives of people.
The listening passage provide information about two students respectively. First student is majoring in journalism and have half A's and half B grades in journalism. He was also involved in extra co-curricular activities such as member of students council, player of soccer team, played violin and also took photography classes. The student use to go off campus and usually volunteered in hospital and old homes.
While, the second student is majoring in Biology and has also taken up journalism as he thinks of being investigative journalist in field of Biology. The student have scored straightforward A grades in each field. Nevertheless, the student is mostly working in biology labs and is continuously doing research. The student is most of the time on campus but sometimes goes to local sporting event.
So, it can be concluded that the First student is the deserving student who should get scholarship as he is good at everything other than the academics.
