Tourism in Prague
The aim of this report is to provide information on a current state of tourism in Prague – capital of the Czech Republic.
Prague has always been a highlight number one to every single person who has come to visit this country. Not only for its incredibly rich history, magnificent architecture and cultural heritage, but also for its location. Settled in the heart of Central Europe enables travellers to all directions to make a short stop-over here in the middle of their journey.
To begin with, let me introduce you results of a survey conducted by Czech travel Association in November 2016 among 160 tour-operators and travel agencies who focus on in-coming section of travel business. Based on the study, there is a significant increase of visits that last at least four nights as well as of so-called city breaks taking two nights, usually weekends. On the other hand, study shows that people are less interested in not long back so popular typical travel packages – all inclusive Prague weekends with a travel-guide service. In other words, the figures show a shift from organised to independent travel, which reflects the trend of travel market in most European countries.
Respondents were also asked to nominate what their customers consider main problems or complications during their stay in Prague. As you can see in a table attached, insufficient transport service, overrated prices of the same and language barrier in restaurants, shops and, surprisingly, even in some hotels, were the first three of their choices.
Based on mentioned above, in order to make our capital more attractive and tourist-friendly, our suggestion is to discuss both transport and language issues at the Holiday World Fair planned to be held in March 2017.
