Watching sports is one of the entertainment we can easily have in our lives. Many people enjoy watching games such as football and baseball with friends at home or at a bar. Some people may think that professional athletes are earning too much money and they do not deserve receiving such a huge amount of money. However, I believe that they are not overpaid at all because of their influence on the society and risks that they are taking.

To begin with, famous professional athletes have big influence on our society. For example, a very famous Japanese baseball player, Ichiro Suzuki, now plays in America. He belongs to Seattle Mariners. Many Japanese people come to the United States to watch the games. Whenever he plays, live games are broadcasted in Japanese TV. His existence generates a huge amount of money to American and Japanese economy. Moreover, when he advertises of some product such as energy drinks or vitamins, these product have large sales.

In addition to the previous point, professional athletes possess potential risk of getting injured. If they get injured their body seriously, they will not only be able to play any more but also not be able to earn any money. Worst case, they may have difficulty in normal life. Their jobs are totally different profession from having office work. Since they are facing such a big risk, they should be given high salaries.

In conclusion, professional athletes should earn as much money as they do because they generate a lot of money to our society. They also have possibility of damaging their body when they practice and play games.
