Formal education tends to restrain our minds and spirits rather than set them free
The goal of the education system is to cultivate the curiosity of human, nurture their minds , nourish their thoughts and help them to acquire knowledge. But our formal education emphasizes on what to think instead of how to think. When the curiosity of human mind fetter by the boundation of formal education then there is no worth of the education .
Main representatives of our formal education systems are school, colleges and universities where the formal syllabus organizes our mind. The curiosity beyond the syllabus is always discouraged . So formal education system tries to impede our wanderlust of gaining out of box knowledge. Formal education always encouraged students to follow the established theories , hypothesis and formulas . Never asks them to think unbiasly and challenges the established tradition.
If we follow the history of invention we always see that new product always come when we go against the cherished tradition . Starting from Copurnicus , when the church education strongly believes that earth is the center of the universe, no one even ask about its validity. But when Copurnicus has proved mathematically then the church marked him as traitor. For very past the formal education never support free thinking.
However if we consider the today's competitive world where providing job is the goal of the education system . Then there is nothing wrong with the formal education system . There are very few people who devoted themselves in free thinking. For them it is true that the formal education system hinder their mind.
Formal education is necessary to bring harmony in the basic level of knowledge. However it should be always followed. In the schools the formal education is necessary . But when the students able to think them we should let them free to think freely. If the goal of the education is to teach how to think then there will be no boundaries in the education.
