Individual greed and selfishness has been the basis of our modern society. Some people think that we should go back to older and more traditional value of respect for family and community to create a better world. What is your opinion?
Nowadays people have become more concerned for own self-interest and own financial benefit rather than thinking of the community as a whole. So, some people are thinking it as a better option to revert to old golden days when people had a sense of community within themselves and used to respect each other. Personally I think, we should bring the traditional values of respect from our ancestors into the modern society.
There is a mistaken belief that happiness comes from material possessions and money. Believing this, people are running towards something despite the fact that they already have all the things necessary to lead a comfortable life. It is making them more workaholic because human just cannot seem to be satisfied with what they have in life. Also, human have natural built-in survival instinct which drives them to get more resources to make sure that their offspring can lead a wealthy life. All these factors are contributing to make someone more greedy and selfish since there is absolutely no time to socialize.
Taking all these into consideration some people advocate the idea of going back to older time to ensure a better future for next generation. The reason for this belief is that modern recently society has departed from traditional value that ones held communities together. Also, traditional values provide a stable environment for society to thrive and to foster common good. In traditional family and community structure every member used to respect each other and also had the general feeling of caring for family members and neighbors as well.
To sum up, family and society are the basic structure of a nation. To my view, unless there is a revival of moral values in our nation or world as a whole, it will corrupt from within and eventually will die as a nation.
