A lot of people have to travel or move to another country for various reasons. Some people go abroad for studies, some go for business and job opportunities and many other reasons. But moving into a different country always gives a cultural setback to a person. He has to adjust himself in a completely different society, whose roots, morals, culture and lifestyle may differ in varying degree in comparison to his native place. And at this point of time they have to make an important decision whether they should blend into the foreign culture or they should stick to their native culture.
People who decide to follow the customs of the new country may get adjusted in that environment faster. The new society would also accept them easily. Blending into new culture will help the people in the foreign country to make new friends and get more resources. Their willingness to accept the new culture will help them accommodate in the new society with lesser efforts. They will easily get accustomed to their new life. But their family back in the native place might not be comfortable with the changes that the person is undergoing and might develop a sense of losing their person to foreigners.
People who do not accept the new customs find it difficult to adjust in a new country. The stubbornness of following one own culture and tradition might alienate the person in the new society. Such people will have problems in making new contacts. Even food, which is a part of culture, would become difficult to find if a person wishes to stick to his diet of native food. Such a person will not be able to enjoy his social life and would have hard times coping up in the new environment.
If I were to move to a new country, I would blend into the new culture so that I would assimilate in the new society. At the same time, I would not forget my roots and also cherish my culture by introducing the people in the new country to it. It can be done through simple ways like by sharing food of my culture with my new friends, or telling them stories and mythology of my culture. In this way I would try to strike a balance by blending into the new culture and by not forgetting my own culture at the same time.
