Chorleywood is a village near London whose population has increased steadily since the middle of the 19th century. The map below shows the development of the village.
The diagram illustrates the development of the village of Chorleywood as the number of its population rises between the years of 1868 and 1994. Overall, the picture marks improvements in roadworks from casual roads to modernized roadways and also depicts the increase in number of people residing in Chorleywood town during those particular dates.
Firstly, by the year 1868 to 1883 there are main roads constructed adjacent to the small town. In 1883 to 1922, the town grew more than twice its size. A railway was built in the southern part of the village as early as 1909. The village has its very own train station. Lastly, construction of the motorway was started in 1970 at the eastern part of the town, this coincides with the particular increase in the number of people settling in Chorleywood from the year 1922 to 1970. The map also represents that there is a park and golf course erected at the center of the town, however the date of construction was not defined by the illustration.
