The author discusses some alternatives which have been proposed by some experts through which the Torreya taxifoha survives. However, the lecturer refutes those schemes since she thinks none of them are practical solutions for this matter.
First, some researchers suggest reestablishing the given tree in the same location because the area has specific and desirable microclimate which is appropriate to/for this kind of tree. Nonetheless, the professor believes that this approach is not helpful because global warming has a great impact on different climates and almost all regions are in danger, even cooler areas.
Second, another proposed approach is changing its location to a diverse condition, but the lecturer points the similar experiences about another tree which was relocated and had some harmful influences on other plants. According to the previous observation, moving a plant or tree to a new area may lead to some unpredictable consequences like disappearing other plants. This translates into that although it probably helps the tree, it may put some fragile plants in danger.
Finally, there is the third option in which the tree can be protected in a particular area, especially a research center which the conditions are under control not only to preserve the tree but also to conduct research on the tree. However, the professor mentions that there are three types of Torreya taxifoha in its population. Therefore, it is worth mentioning that an enough space is needed to locate various kinds of the given tree. Thus the last way is not a good choice as well.
